Official Celtic Woman Newsletter - October 2008

 October, 2008, Volume 13
Hello to everyone

Europe treated the Celtic Woman ladies very kindly this Fall, with standing ovations and sell-out shows all across the board.  We want to thank all our fans for showing such strong support for our show.  The girls all had an amazing time and throroughly enjoyed every last performance.  And for those of you who didn't get a chance to experience the show, not to worry, we will be back soon with an even greater show just for you!

We've gotten some fantastic feedback and fanmail from you all, and just thought it would be great to share some of your lovely comments with the rest of the Celtic Woman fans:

Last Saturday I saw Celtic Woman in concert for the first time at Philipshalle Dusseldorf.
Thank you so much for this wonderful evening, I don't know how many times I had tears in my eyes! In my life I have visited more than 150 concerts but the voices of Celtic Woman are the best I've ever heard on stage. I hope that they will return soon! –Christian Niestrath, Germany

I went to your show in Salzburg yesterday with my wife and would like to say THANK YOU! What you do is really great. With your music and especially your voices you touched not only our hearts but our souls too! -Sabine and Manfred, Germany

In the meantime, it looks like magic is in the air…

New pictures from performance at Japan's 21st JAL Kyoto Otobutai 2008

Check out some absolutely captivating pictures of the girls performing at the premier music event, which was held in September.   Lynn, Chloe, Máiréad, Alex and Órla were honoured to have the opportunity to perform at the majestic Byodo-in Temple, also one of UNESCO's World Heritage sites. Click here for slideshow
Can you spot the difference?
Celtic Woman Gallery

Our very own Tinkerbell, Máiréad, was in LA for the premiere of Disney's new animated film after lending her musical talent to the soundtrack.

Composer Joel McNeely was searching for a unifying component for the film's score when he saw Máiréad's performance on a PBS special. He immediately knew her captivating combination of expressive Celtic style and full-bodied classical sound would provide the perfect complement to his rich score. McNeely composed music specifically to fit Máiréad's distinctive style, and collaborated with the soloist to further polish the music for Celtic authenticity. The result is an old world, ethereal overtone filled with heartfelt emotion and color, which is particularly evident in Máiréad's inspired, lyrical solo performances throughout Tinker Bell.

What Máiréad has to say:
"I am so honoured to have played on the beautiful Joel McNeely score of Tinker Bell. I enjoyed every second of it and I know everyone who sees and hears the movie will be absolutely enchanted! Music is the heart and soul of a film in telling the story from an emotional sense and I think people know instantly when someone is sad or happy or excited from the music – it's so important. I had a great time doing it. There are lots of different styles to play -- it's lyrical, it's fun and there are some real 'stormers' of tracks. So it fits my style well."

Official Celtic Woman Newsletter - September 2008

 June, 2008, Volume 9
Quiet?

It may seem like it's been quiet in the Celtic Woman Camp of late, but there has been feverish activity preparing for the European tour and getting ready for our new release.
The Greatest Journey Essential Collection

To celebrate 4 years of success, a compilation of all the best Celtic Woman tracks from previous releases and touring favourites is being released in the USA on 28th October and 22nd  September internationally. As well as a CD release, there will be a DVD release with exclusive interviews and behind the scenes footage from the very first Celtic Woman concert, right through to 2008. Both CD and DVD are titled " The Greatest Journey Essential Collection".
New Photoshoot
Celtic Woman Gallery

Celtic Woman have completed a brand new photoshoot for these new releases and we know you will look forward to seeing these new shots, which have been inspired by high fashion shoots. Here is a small sample for you
Kyoto's Byodoin Temple

September saw the girls heading East to Japan to record the Otobutai TV programme in Kyoto's Byodoin Temple. The Event has before seen many musical luminaries perform, so Celtic Woman were very honoured to take part in this prestigious musical event. It was a hectic few days of rehearsals and performing, but it saw the girls doing what they do best, albeit in a beautifully lit temple, instead of an arena. The programme is being aired on October 5th on Japan's MBS and we hope to show you some of this online very soon.
European tour
Tour Dates

Its countdown now to the European tour and the girls are very excited to meet their Euro fans for the first time, and share some new experiences.
